    On April 10, 2014, Scotiabank hosted the annual Charity Trading Day, when agency commissions generated from institutional equity trading are donated to the charity organizations helping kids and young people across Canada.   • Scotiabank Announces Retirement of Global Banking and Markets Group Head and Co-Chief Executive Officer Stephen McDonald

    Scotiabank announced the retirement of Steve McDonald, Group Head and Co-CEO, Global Banking and Markets, effective April 30, 2014 after a thirty year banking career, including more than a decade with Scotiabank. Mike Durland, currently Group Head and Co-CEO, will assume leadership of Global Banking and Markets as Group Head and CEO. To learn more, please see the press release.

  • Scotiabank Named ‘Best Foreign Exchange Provider’ in Canada for 10th Year in a Row

  • Scotiabank named Bank of the Year in Canada and multiple countries, by The Banker magazine

    Scotiabank has once again been named the Bank of the Year in Canada (2013) by The Banker magazine, a Financial Times publication. This is the second consecutive year Scotiabank has received this honour from the magazine.   • Women in Capital Markets Announces 2013 Rising Star and Awards for Leadership

    Scotiabank's Mari Jensen, Director, Sales, Foreign Exchange, is the 2013 recipient of the Women in Capital Markets (WCM) Rising Star Award. WCM is a non-profit organization that advocates the entry, advancement and development of women in the Canadian capital markets. The WCM Rising Star Award was established in 2010 "to recognize a female early leader whose entrepreneurial spirit, leadership and social responsibility have made a unique contribution to the Capital Markets industry."  Mari is the first Scotiabank employee to receive the Rising Star Award.   • Scotiabank’s Patricia Mohr Wins Prestigious Metal Bulletin Award

    Scotiabank’s Vice President of Economics and Commodity Market Specialist, Patricia Mohr, has received the 2012 Metal Bulletin Apex award for the top gold and overall precious metals price forecasts. Ms. Mohr received top honours for her gold forecast, which she estimated with 99.63% accuracy. The Apex program tracks and recognizes the most accurate price forecasters in base and precious metals.
