In Mexico, clients have access to a complete suite of corporate and investment banking products and services. Through our offices located in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara, Scotiabank’s Global Banking and Markets division operates through teams of relationship managers and product specialists working together to offer multi-product solutions to clients' financial needs. We provide a full range of corporate and investment banking and capital markets products and services such as lending, debt and equity financing, mergers and acquisitions, risk management, securitization, trading, foreign exchange, and precious and base metals. We also provide access to cash management, trade finance, and various research products.

In Mexico, we are organized by industry specialty groups, with industry experts supported by product specialists to best serve the specific requirements of our clients. This enables us to be expert in both an individual company's needs, as well as the industry in which it operates. In Mexico, we have the following industry specializations:

Corporate and Investment Banking

The Corporate and Investment Banking group in Mexico includes traditional services such as corporate and investment products, corporate lending and loan syndications, equity and debt underwriting, and mergers and acquisitions. All product specialists within this group work together as a team to deliver integrated solutions to clients' needs that best match their needs and capitalize on opportunities available to them. These product specialists also work across a number of industries to deliver specialized knowledge of the industry context in which a given company operates.

Global Equity Sales and Trading

The Global Equity Sales and Trading group in Mexico represents an integrated area dealing with debt and equity capital markets, sales and trading services, and institutional sales. Our traders have built solid relationships with the institutional buy-side through a professional approach and understanding each client's portfolio and trading style. The trading desk offers a full-service approach, from idea generation to execution.

Foreign Exchange

In Mexico, our Foreign Exchange group is responsible for clients' monetary exchange needs in the Mexican market, as well as managing foreign exchange risk exposure for clients. The group coordinates local coverage with our global FX team headquartered in Toronto to provide outstanding service and innovative products to clients in Mexico.

Derivatives Sales

In Mexico, our Derivatives group provides innovative investment and risk management solutions. According to a client's risk profile, we design protection from fluctuating exchange and interest rates, as well as from market risk, through various hedging strategies. Our products and services include interest rate swaps, cross-currency interest rate swaps, exchange rate futures, forwards and options, future rate agreements, interest rate options (caps, floors, collars), derivatives listed on the Mexican Derivatives Market, futures and options on stocks and indices, as well as advice to manage and diversify risks.
Through other areas of Scotiabank, clients in Mexico also have access to a full range of Cash Management, Trade Finance and Correspondent Banking, Trust Services, and Treasury Services.
Our ability to also service clients in Canada and the U.S. allows us to provide total NAFTA coverage for corporate, institutional and government clients, both domestic and local affiliates of multi-national companies.
