Bob Nguyen

Managing Director and Head, Corporate Fixed Income Origination

Bob has global management responsibility for Debt Capital Markets, Securitization, the Derivative Products Group, and the Sustainable Finance Group. Prior to joining Scotiabank, Bob held a variety of leadership positions at another Canadian financial institution with roles and experiences spanning Debt Capital Markets, Derivatives Origination, and Investment Banking. Prior to his career in Investment Banking, Bob practiced Corporate and Securities Law in the Toronto, New York and Tokyo offices of an international law firm. Bob earned a B.Sc (Hons.) from the University of Western Ontario in Physics, as well as a JD from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.

Fanny Doucet

Director, Sustainable Finance

Fanny leads Scotiabank's Sustainable Finance Group. She has more than 10 years of Debt Capital Markets experience in Canada and the U.S., and has covered clients across a variety of sectors and geographies. Fanny currently represents Scotiabank as a member of the ICMA's Advisory Council, the CSA Group Transition Taxonomy and IIAC’s Green Bond Working Group. Fanny has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and is a CFA charterholder.

Peter Johnson

Director, ​​Sustainable Finance

Peter is a recognized pioneer and leader in shaping corporate sustainability. He brings over 20 years of extensive industry experience to provide holistic ESG advice to clients in his current role within Scotiabank’s Sustainable Finance Group. Peter has worked across various sectors to develop and implement business-centric programs around sustainability, climate change, risk management, CSR, stakeholder and employee engagement, metrics and reporting. In his previous role as Director of Scotiabank’s Environmental and Social Risk Management Group, Peter was responsible for identifying and managing current and emerging environmental, social and sustainability risks and opportunities across the Bank’s global presence.

As Chair of the Canadian Standards Association Group’s Transition Taxonomy and Sustainable Finance Technical Committee, Peter’s role is to facilitate a cross-sectoral group whose objective is to develop a national transition taxonomy for the Canadian financial services sector. Peter was the first certified sustainable forest management (SFM) auditor in North America, and he holds a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Toronto along with a Master of Science in Forestry from Lakehead University.

Patrycja Drainville

Associate Director, ​​Sustainable Finance

Patrycja is an award-winning, sustainability and ESG professional in the Canadian business community. She currently works with Scotiabank’s Sustainable Finance team to provide ESG advice and solutions to corporate, financial, public sector, and institutional clients and deliver on the bank’s commitment to mobilize $100 billion of sustainable financing by 2025. Patrycja has extensive experience advancing sustainability strategy with medium and large North American energy companies leading the way in ESG integration, corporate strategy and reporting opportunities for the sector. She also held the role of Chair, representing the oil and natural gas sector in the development of the Canadian Standards Association’s Sustainable & Transition Principles and Taxonomy.

Patrycja holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Calgary and is currently working towards her MBA at Dalhousie University specializing in Sustainable Finance. She is board member of the Canadian network of the UN Global Compact, an active mentor and board member of the University of Calgary’s sustainability student association Fuse Collective and was awarded the 2018 Young Women in Energy Award, recognizing women in the oil and gas industry for their leadership, innovation and community service.

Melissa Menzies

Associate Director, ​​Sustainable Finance

Melissa joined Scotiabank’s Sustainable Finance group from an ESG ratings and research firm, where she was responsible for assisting issuers, underwriters and companies with sustainable finance transactions across the Americas and EMEA markets. She also brings experience advising corporate clients on their sustainability performance and supporting corporate sustainability benchmarking. Melissa has a Master of Environmental Studies in Sustainability Management from the University of Waterloo.

Christina Drotenko

Analyst, ​​Sustainable Finance

Christina joined the Sustainable Finance Group from Scotiabank’s Global Capital Markets Rotational Program, where she worked on various equity and credit derivatives structuring desks. Christina earned an HBA from Western University’s Ivey Business School, and she has also volunteered in Taiwan to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

Dakota Mahar

Dakota joined the Sustainable Finance Group from Scotiabank’s International Corporate & Commercial Banking unit, where he spent 2.5 years focused on Latin American clients. He also brings experience through previous roles held with Scotiabank, including Global Risk Management and Canadian Retail Banking. Dakota holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta with a specialization in Finance, as well as having studied internationally at the Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración.
